Bad Habits

Do you have a bad habit you cannot seem to get rid of? Some people smoke. Some people do drugs. Some people shoplift. Some people download illegally. Some people like to use profanity. Some people like to watch tv before doing homework. Some people like to eat the dessert before the main course. Some people like to complain about everything they see around them. Despite the severity or consequences, this habits are by definition "bad". According to dictionary.com, habits are an acquired behavior pattern regularly followed until it has become almost involuntary". Indeed, it is hard to get rid of because how can you get rid of something that has become almost involuntary. Sometimes I would feel very strongly about getting rid of it but the next day or even in the next hour, I would think: "Why do I need to change? There's nothing wrong with the status quo... right?". I guess many people are waiting for that final push to get us going. When will that push come? No one knows. When will we change? We SHOULD know. I truly hope we all have the willpower and the self-control to change at least one bad habit as we approach a new year.

i read a book: One Small Step Can Change Your Life

the idea is to change a little bit at a time so that you don't even feel odd or need to jump right out of your comfort zone

in time, you would get to the big goal that you intended to go towards from the beginning

i followed that and it helped for a little while. i think the main thing is to have the perseverance to keep doing it, otherwise, i just go back to my old self.

sometimes it's also not that simple. stress from school and life can push you to do something to get away/avoid the obligations and responsibilities.
